Shane Kimpton
Group Chief Executive OfficerShane is an accomplished corporate executive with a proven ability in management leadership founded on extensive experience in Australia, Canada, and the Middle East.
Shane graduated in Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology and has over 30 years of involvement in delivering business growth and improved performance across Construction & Asset Services businesses.
Shane has a demonstrated track record of driving turnarounds by building strong leadership teams and providing direction and inspirational management to all team members.
Shane was previously CEO and Managing Director of AusGroup and has held executive roles at UGL, Transfield Worley Traggs, FT Services and Qenos.
Stephen Kemp
Group Chief Financial OfficerStephen is an experienced finance executive with international experience across North America and Australia. Stephen holds both a CPA and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (UNSW). Stephen has an extensive track record of successfully leading organisational change and supporting turnarounds across a range of industries including engineering, services and contracting. A strategic thinker with a strong focus on ensuring that both strategic and operational outcomes are met. Stephen was previously CFO of Calibre’s Diona business and held senior roles at Calibre, Transfield Services and Ascent.

Matthew Hunter
ChairmanMatthew has 30 years’ experience in the investment banking and principal investment industries. He commenced his career in mergers and acquisitions in Australia and the UK, with JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. Following this, Matthew joined global private equity firm, The Carlyle Group, based in Sydney where he was a Managing Director. Matthew is an advisor to pan- Asian credit fund, OCP Asia, on their Australian corporate portfolio. Matthew has extensive experience as a non executive director and presently sits on the board of National Group (mining equipment rental), Malabar Resources (coal mining), MP Water (water treatment), ARI (non destructive testing), Medirent (medical equipment rental) and is Chairman of Asseti (special data). Matthew has also previously served as a non-executive director of Coates Hire, Healthscope and Terracom. Matthew has a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting and Finance (First Class Honours) from University of NSW.

Ben Eastoe
Chief Executive Officer and Director | North AmericaBen is an experienced senior executive, with a demonstrated capability of working in the civil, mining and infrastructure construction sectors. Ben's track record includes roles as Senior Project Director, Regional Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager and Chief Operations Officer. Ben joined Bothar in 2020 as Senior Project Manager for the North East Link Early Works package in Melbourne Australia and was an integral part of the successful outcome. On the completion of works in Australia, Ben accepted the role of Chief Operations Officer, Bothar Canada, in early 2022. Ben now leads the North American Operation, as the Chief Executive Officer for Bothar Inc.
Michael Wandmaker
Non-Executive DirectorMichael is an experienced senior executive with a strong track record of successfully building and implementing corporate strategies to deliver operational excellence and profitable growth in large, complex asset intensive organisations.
Michael brings a breadth and depth of leadership and international operational experience at the Chief Executive/Managing Director level, covering a wide range of public and private businesses in the construction, engineering, infrastructure, defence and utility sectors.
Michael has most recently completed more than seven years as the Managing Director of Melbourne Water. Prior to that he was the COO and Acting CEO of publicly listed international engineering and construction company UGL. He has also held leadership positions as CEO of Silcar, Vice President of Siemens and President of FT Services in Canada.
Michael graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical and Computing. He is Fellow of the Institute of Engineers and has qualified as a GAICD, provides a depth of management knowledge and experience to complement Bothar's skill-based Board.
He is currently a Non-Executive Director with ASX listed, Latrobe Magnesium (LMG) and, on the Industry Advisory Board for Monash University. He also completed more than six years on the Board of the influential Committee for Melbourne.
Andy Brooks
Non-Executive DirectorAndy is currently the President of Had To Holdings Ltd, a company that specializes in providing interim senior leadership and offers valuable input on many levels including strategic development and board governance.
Mr. Brooks has demonstrated his ability to provide fiscal, strategic, and operational leadership.
Prior to Had To, Andy held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer at Waiward Industrial for six years, taking that company from fabricator to multifaceted industry player. In this capacity, he provided strategic direction, strengthened business processes, created long-term value, and fostered unprecedented profitable growth.
Andy has also held various senior positions, including Chief Executive Officer at the Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association, President and CEO of Flint Transfield Services, Vice President of Business Operations at Flint Energy, and Chief Financial Officer at Lauren Engineering and Constructors and supported project operations at Reid Crowther International in Nigeria.
Andy’s holds a degree in business administration, is a CPA, and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell. Andy also serves as the Vice Chair of the Calgary Drug Treatment Court, was a former director of the Petroleum Services Association of Canada and has held the position of Vice President on the Canadian Heavy Oil Association Board of Directors.

David King
General Manager | AustraliaDavid began his journey with Bothar Boring & Tunnelling when he commenced as a Fabricator/Welder back in 1999.
In the twenty plus years of dedicated service, he has led the way in innovation and improvements, complex site supervision, operational management and was appointed as General Manager in 2018.
David has expert knowledge and experience and has been involved in every aspect of trenchless construction from HSEQ, TBM design and fabrication, shaft design and sinking, Micro-tunnelling, EPB-TBM’s and Auger Bores in all ground conditions.
David is responsible for running the Australian business and operational management including overseeing HSEQ, tendering, methodology selection, project management, equipment selection and logistics, resourcing, and liaison with client’s management representatives.
David has been instrumental in the year-on-year growth and expansion of the Australian business whilst maintaining and promoting the outstanding culture Bothar are recognised for.
David’s pragmatic approach to construction execution ensures that all our work is carefully planned, adequately resourced, supported as required and delivered.

Pat Barron
Projects Director | AustraliaPat is a qualified Civil Engineer with extensive project and operations management experience. He has over 20 years’ experience in engineering and management of various civil, industrial and commercial construction projects with strong client facing involvement. Whilst he has considerable experience in some of Australia’s largest pipeline projects his experience is complemented by his construction experience in Ireland.
Craig McDowell
Commercial Manager | AustraliaCraig is a Civil Engineer with 30+ years’ working experience, with approximately the first 17.5 years being a Project Engineer and Project Manager in Civil construction contracting companies, and the last 15 years specialising in Contracts, contractual claims and Contracts Administration in ‘Civil Contracting’, ‘Oil and Gas’, ‘Solar Farm’ and ‘Microtunnelling’ industries. With Craig’s extensive experience, he can not only carry out a wide variety of activities, he is also able to mentor and train those less experienced.
Chris Ciappara
HSEQ Manager | AustraliaChris is an experienced HSEQ professional with experience in tunnel maintenance, defence maintenance, security and risk Management, open roads maintenance, gas, civil works, construction and waste management in Australia and PNG.
Chris' diverse background in management of safety and compliance across various industries and locations compliments the unique challenges associated with Bothar's dynamic industry while promoting a strong, positive safety culture.
Declan Jones
Senior Project Manager | AustraliaDeclan is a qualified Mechanical Engineer with technical and practical experience in microtunnelling, piping fabrication, pipeline installation, power generation facility installation, gas compression facility upgrades and commissioning. Declan is a skilled and proficient project manager with a wealth of expertise in managing complex projects, Declan consistently delivers successful outcomes. Declan's ability to adapt to changing circumstances and make informed decisions contributes to the overall success of the projects he oversees.
Aidan Forrest
Senior Project Manager | Australia VICAidan is a qualified Civil Engineer with over 6 years of technical and practical experience in providing solutions for, managing, driving, and monitoring construction projects. Aidan is hands on with a fundamental aim to manage and deliver safe , cost effective and environmentally responsible projects. Aidan has an understanding of project management, tendering, procurement, engineering, microtunnelling, tunnel boring, auger boring, temporary works design, drainage, and civil works.
Dmitry Shcherbakov
Project Manager | Australia QLDDmitry is a qualified Civil Engineer with extensive experience of over 20 years in various areas of engineering and civil construction. Whilst he has considerable experience in some of Australia’s large pipeline and gas infrastructure projects (trenchless and open cut) his experience is complemented by his construction experience in Oilfield services and high-rise buildings construction.
Dmitry has been a Project Manager with Bothar Boring & Tunnelling since 2016.
As a Project Manager, he is involved in all aspects of project engineering and management such as design, planning, scheduling of work, technical queries, assistance with trenchless design solutions, QA, HSE Management, contract administration, tendering and preparation of work method statements and methodologies.
Iyad Omar
General Manager | KuwaitIyad is a qualified Mechanical Engineer with 18+ years’ experience in Microtunnelling and pipe installations industries. He has also extensive projects and operations management experience. Iyad has been managing Kuwait Branch since 2017 with his technical understanding of engineering mechanics, principles, and materials, and with his industry knowledge in Kuwait.
